How to help

One of the most frequently asked questions that we hear on the campaign trail is ‘how can I help Adam win on September 1st?' We’ve set up this page to give you a few concrete ideas that will actually go a long way. This is not an exhaustive list, and we invite you to branch out with your own creative ideas!

Donate

One of the quickest – and most impactful – ways to support the campaign is with a financial contribution. Every dollar raised from this point forward directly helps us contact voters in Norfolk County, and share Adam’s positive vision for the future of the DA’s office. You can donate here- anything helps!

Volunteer

There are lots of opportunities to get involved as a volunteer with our campaign. If you haven’t already, sign up for our weekly volunteer newsletter here. This goes out every Tuesday with a list of door-knocking opportunities, phone banking sign-ups, and other community events as they pop up.

Election day Volunteering

The five days before the election (August 28th-31st) will be the most critical for our volunteer team. Any time you can give us during this stretch – be it three hours or three days – is immensely appreciated. You can indicate your interest by filling out this form or visit voteadamdeitch.com/events to sign up directly for volunteer shifts. Our most needed volunteer position is door-knocking – which can seem intimidating at first, but was recently described to us from a current volunteer as ‘taking a nice walk in a neighborhood for a couple of hours and talking to a few people along the way’. Having these face-to-face conversations with our neighbors is some of the most meaningful voter contact that we have available to us. But anything you can do is immensely helpful!

Talk to your Friends and Family

One of the most significant and meaningful things that you as an individual can do is talk to your friends who live in Norfolk county about the election. Tests show that a friend-to-friend contact can increase voter turnout by up to 8 percent and have up to two times more impact than a cold call, text, or door knock. Making everyone in your network aware of this race, and the date of the election (September 1st), and encouraging them to check their registration and make a plan to vote can make a huge difference. Here are some steps on where to start:

Step 1:

First, make a list of people you know in the district: friends, family, and community groups you are a part of; people you see regularly; and people you work with. Another good way to make this list is by looking at who you send your holiday cards to - that way you can sort by town, and see who is in the district. See the map and list below – Norfolk County has 28 cities and towns, some of which you might not realize are in the county!

Step 2:

Then, let them know there’s an important election coming up and help them make a plan to vote (when, where, and how). Call them if you usually call them, email them if you typically email them, text them if you typically text them, or talk to them when you see them next.

We’ve created a series of draft texts and emails designed to help. We recommend (1) reaching out to people right now (or as soon as is humanly possible!), (2) following up with people on or around August 20th (before early voting begins), and (3) reminding them on August 31st (the night before the election) – if they have mentioned they plan on voting in-person on 9/1.

Subject: Vote for Adam Deitch on September 1st!

Hi (NAME)!

I just wanted to reach out and give you a heads up about the upcoming Democratic primary on September 1st. This is the first time in 16 years that we’ve had a choice for our District Attorney -- a position that is often overlooked, but I believe is one of the most critical elected officials, especially at the local level.

I’m casting my vote for Adam Deitch, the only former federal prosecutor in the race, and I’m really hoping you will consider voting for him as well. Adam was a prosecutor at the U.S. Attorney's office in Boston who worked to root out corruption across MA, and he’s the only candidate with the experience needed to bring trust and competence back to this DA’s Office. Adam has also been endorsed by the Boston Globe. You can read his comprehensive policy agenda here.

If you want to vote by mail, you can request your mail ballot here, and either mail it back or hand deliver it to a ballot box by 8/31. You can find where your polling location is and hours for early voting (August 22-28) here

This primary is critical to this race -- whoever wins on 9/1 will almost certainly be the next DA (there is no Republican running). I’m voting for Adam Deitch because (INSERT OWN TEXT), and I hope that you’ll join me! If you have any questions about the election or Adam’s campaign, you can send them to info@voteadamdeitch.com

Sincerely (or however you like to sign off),
